Heute haben wir eine traurige Nachricht erhalten: Lutz Anders ist am Mittwoch, dem 15. April, verstorben. Lutz war eine zentrale Figur der deutschsprachigen Mailart-Szene, Kunstdrucker, Ausstellungsmacher und Herausgeber von Katalogen.
Für uns war er eine Anlaufstelle bei den ersten Schritten in einem noch unbekannten Gebiet, der uns Neulinge ebenso zuvorkommend behandelte wie die Größen der Szene.
“Mit seinem Weggang verliert die Mail‑Art‑Welt einen derjenigen, die sie still, aber kraftvoll zusammengehalten haben”, schreibt Lars Schumacher.

This combination inspired 189 artists to submit 200 works that explore the theme of mountains through books and texts. The contributors come from Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, UK, and the USA.
Once again, the call and the exhibition have been organized by Sarah Bodman and Linda Parr.

Bees have been with humanity since the Stone Age. Many cultures have fairy tales and stories that highlight their importance. And yet their numbers are dwindling. And as the bees die, so do the plants.
In March, the European Union’s (EU) Research Agency published a status report on pollinators in Europe. The report does not exactly paint an optimistic picture.
“Today, one in three bee, butterfly and hoverfly species are disappearing in the EU. Pollinator loss is one of the largest threats to EU nature, human wellbeing, and food security.”
To raise awareness of the importance of bees in everyday life, Roman Golub from Estonia has launched a mail-in call for entries. The accompanying exhibition is scheduled to open on June 20—World Bee Day.

Exhibition May 20 – June, 2026 Gallery on the island of Saaremaa Estonia
What significance does astronomy hold for us? How does it influence our lives? What is the connection between astronomy and development? What kind of development do we hope to see in our communities? How can astronomy contribute to sustainable development?
These were some of the questions As part of the celebrations that PLOAD – the Lusophone Astronomy Group for Development – raised at its 10th anniversary.
They launched a mail art call for submissions, inviting artists from around the world — especially those from Portuguese-speaking communities — to submit their work. This initiative was born from the idea that astronomy is not only about stars and galaxies, but also a powerful tool for creating a more sustainable and inclusive future.
Right now, the works are exhibited online.
Travelling exhibitions featuring selections of works will be organized in various Portuguese-speaking countries and communities, the Lusophony.
The exhibition “Postcards for the Universe: messages without borders”, which includes a selection of the works received by the PLOAD network, will take place at the Alqueva Lake Observatory, in Alentejo, Portugal.
The exhibition will be open to the public from 3 to 23 August. The opening will take place on 3 August, at 9pm.

The organizers of the Boston 2026 World Expo, an international stamp show to commemorate USA’s 250th anniversary, are looking for mail art about rebellion. The 12th decennial international stamp show in the United States will convene on Boston’s historic seaport.
The mail art show will commence May 23-30, 2026 at Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. The front and back of the mail piece are on display at the exhibition.

The Illustration

Preschool teachers from Rosà, a small town in the province of Vicenza, want to raise awareness in the school community about mail art as both an art form and a broader form of communication.

The bookshop Bücherkiste in Burg, a bookshop in Burg (Dithmarschen), a community in northern Germany, is looking for mail art with the theme bookworms. Acceptable submissions include drawings, paintings, graphics, art prints, photos, collages, sketches, doodles, and more.

The maximal size is 148 x 210 mm (5.8 x 8.3 inch) or DIN A5.

Gleich drei Gedichte für Kinder von Gerald Jatzek wurden im Jänner in österreichischen Schulmedien veröffentlicht:
In dem von Bailicz / Freund / Müller/ Plank in der Form von einzelnen Heften herausgegebenen Deutsch Sprachbuch für die 4. Klasse sind zwei Gedichte enthalten. Eines findet sich im Deutsch Sprach-Lese-Buch, das zweite im Arbeitsheft Lesen (ISBN 978-3-209-13259-8) enthalten.
Dazu kommt ein weiterer Text in der Jännerausgabe des für Volksschulen produzierten Magazins Space – Die neuen Lesewelten.
The Portuguese gallery Atelier Ghostbirds organized an international mail art exhibition in January benefiting the Fund for Global Human Rights. It featured 321 works by 184 artists from 27 countries.
For the organizers the contributions were
“a personal spark, a quiet act of resistance, a reminder that creativity travels further than any one gallery wall. Together, this dense constellation of envelopes, stamps, smudges, and marks forms a living network that echoes the Dadaists’ belief that art belongs in everyday life—and that even the most modest fragment can carry profound meaning.”

In March, all 319 pieces will be gathered again in an online fundraising auction, with 100% of proceeds supporting the Fund for Global Human Rights.

Franz Kafka (3 July 1883 – 3 June 1924) is arguably the most influential writer of the 20th century. Authors influenced by his work include Kobo Abe, Jorge Luis Borges, Albert Camus, Leena Krohn, Gabriel García Márquez, Sadegh Hedayat, Haruki Murakami, and Zong Pu.
2024 marked the centenary of Franz Kafka’s death, and the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow was eager to find out how contemporary artists see the genius from Prague – who wanted his friend Max Brod to destroy all of his unpublished works. To this end, they launched a call for mail art based on Kafka’s collection of aphorisms “Meditations on Sin, Hope, Suffering and the True Path”, widely known in German as “Die Zürauer Aphorismen”.
More than 200 artists from 34 countries across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas sent around 300 works. As not all artists adhered to the guidelines, some of the contributions deal with other works by the author.

The Exhibition
KAFKA – International Mail Art pl. Matejki 13 Kraków, Poland February 20, 2026–April 2026
Jean-Philippe Giniot (Gilliot) is a mail artist from Belgium who creates collages, stamps and trashbooks. In his IUOMA (International Union of Mail-Artists) profile, he states:
“I believe in trashpo and the crazy stuff in envelopes. I love ephemera.”
He is a trained as a painter and printmaker
He received the art print “headache” by Gabriele Müller and a card containing an asemic message by Gerald Jatzek.
Two more cards were sent to the painter, engraver and printmaker Michalis Kotsaris. He is the founder of the Gallery Ergo 1998 in his hometown Aitoliko in Western Greece.

Michalis has been involved with mail art since 2010 and is a member of IUOMA and the Greek Engravers Association.
Jessica Dachs and her husband, Diego Dourado, are an active Brazilian couple who incorporate a variety of artistic techniques into their mail art, including collage, painting, poetry, and art prints.
Their envelope containing numerous works took some time to cross the Atlantic, but the wait was undoubtedly worth it.

Undoubtedly, the study of plants is an important field of scientific research. For a long time, the herbarium was the most important tool for botanists seeking to categorize the diversity of nature.
Even in the age of digital archives, these collections, and especially the accompanying drawings, which often reveal an artistic touch through their concise representation, continue to fascinate.

Desde hace 15 años se publica Procedimentum , una revista dedicada a la música electrónica experimental. Durante muchos años, el fanzine constaba de una parte impresa y otra difundida en la web. Entretanto, se ha vuelto demasiado extenso para una revista tradicional. Sería tan grueso como las antiguas guías telefónicas impresas. (Quienes aún las recuerden …)
El editor Pedro Pablo Gallardo Montero ha centrado la edición de 2026 en la obra musical de Fernando Laub. El compositor y artista plástico argentino de raíces austriacas combina la música vanguardista con la experimentación visual y performativa. Recoge material sonoro y visual en selvas y ciudades y lo utiliza para componer escenarios surrealistas que abren un amplio espacio de interpretación.
En la que ya es la 15.ª edición de la revista digital, son principalmente artistas españoles quienes entablan un diálogo creativo con la música de Laub en sus ensayos. Por ejemplo, la artista multimedia Cecelia Chapman, que en su contribución “pintura abstracta-mínima y proyectos” presenta su serie de pintura minimalista-abstracta, basada en la línea y el gesto. O el de María José Bellido Jiménez , que en “Fragmentaciones 017.Cartografía del Objeto encontrado” saca objetos encontrados de su contexto habitual y los relaciona con la línea como componente básico de su obra.
A esto se suma la 10ª Convocatoria Electrónica de Arte Postal Revista , que, como siempre, documenta el encuentro entre dos formas artísticas. En esta ocasión, en el diálogo con la música de Fernando Laub se aceptaron únicamente obras abstractas.
Muchos artistas se han ocupado de obras concretas del compositor y han creado interpretaciones gráficas, como Juan Fran Núñez , que bajo el título “FERNANDO+LAUB” forma un colorido cuadrado mágico de letras. O María Castillo Córdoba con un harmónico collage de superficies y líneas que hace honor al título “Inspiración desde Fernando Laub”.
El único austriaco representado es el músico y autor Gerald Jatzek . En las estructuras superpuestas en morado, rojo y negro, las formas originales se disuelven y remiten al título “Future structures for a flooded world”. El catálogo bilingüe ofrece una introducción a la obra de Fernando Laub, incluyendo fotos de actuaciones, una breve biografía y una discografía y filmografía del artista en referencia. Las contribuciones gráficas se puedenver en la Galería-Museo de Arte Procedimentum (GMAP). Pruebas acústicas de varios artistas son descargables en el archivo sonoro.

At the beginning of the year, Atte Ourie from Helsinki sent us a card featuring one of his typical graphics. They reminded fellow artist The Artful Writer from Australia of ‘scratch and win’-tickets.
In the first half of November, the exhibition “Il Viaggio” took place at the Kunst Grenzen / Arte di Frontera gallery in Roveré della Luna, Trentino-South Tyrol, Italy. Curated by Renata di Palma, the project was linked with the 2024 initiative “Flying Art: Crossing Borders” by her Mexican colleague, Guadalupe Zepeda.
The exhibition “The Journey between dream and Reality” presented over two hundred works from around the world.

Angels abound in myths and religions. They are popular metaphors in poetry (not necessarily the best), and they are an integral part of art history.
They are also the subject of a mail art call by Fabrizio Bandini. He calls them “enigmatic creatures, messengers, guardians, creatures that live between the visible and the invisible”.

Among the works that recently left mailyour.art for distant destinations were two cards. It took them quite a while to cross the Atlantic, but they finally landed safely in Brazil.
