Surprises from Brazil

Works by Jessica Dachs and Diego Dourado

Jessica Dachs and her husband, Diego Dourado, are an active Brazilian couple who incorporate a variety of artistic techniques into their mail art, including collage, painting, poetry, and art prints.

Their envelope containing numerous works took some time to cross the Atlantic, but the wait was undoubtedly worth it.

The Top of the Page …

… features three pieces of art:

On the left side, you see Diego Dourado’s painting of a tuba player with written interventions by Jessica.

In the center is a metal engraving of the Brazilian poet Ferreira Gullar (1930–2012) by Diego.

The postcard print on the right is a of a collage from Jessica’s series “O peso da imagem” (The weight of the image).

And there is more …

A wood print of the bandoneon player Baldosa Floja and the tarot card “a forca” (the force) from her series “arcanas peregrinas” (arcane pilgrimages) by Jesica Dachs.

And just when we thought that was it, stickers celebrating female Latin American poets fell out of the envelope!

Muito obrigado, Jessica and Diego, for your outburst of creativity.
