An Exhibition with historical and contemporary Objects
The Centre d’Art Immanence in Paris is presenting an extensive exhibition of mail art, both old and new curated by Frederic Vincent. The French newspaper “Le Parisien Étudiant” published an article about the compilation of historical and contemporary pieces.
The show features over 400 pieces by more than 200 artists from around the world. The paper states that the exhibition is “reflecting the diversity of approaches and eras” and that hail art has “offered a free and inventive alternative to censorship. Envelopes and cards became vehicles for expression, sometimes subversive, often poetic.”
The article focuses in particular on the interplay between the works of the pioneers of mail art and the contributions of contemporary artists:

“This exhibition presents the leading figures of Mail Art, such as Ray Johnson, Klaus Gohr, Ruth Wolf-Rehfeldt, Robert Filliou, Ken Friedman, Mohammed (aka Plinio Mesciulam), as well as second-generation artists such as Lutz Wohlrab, György Galántai, and new artists still active in this field, such as Susanne Schumacher, Lars Schumacher, Gerald Jatzek, and Gerald Naar.“
